Deleted Cuts 03

The fun thing about improv is that you never know exactly what's going to happen. And some of the best comedy in this show came from creating a space where our cast members could be free to take their characters into unexpected directions.

As we chose what clips to use, that choice was often about the balancing act between humor and truth. Something might be terribly funny, but too inappropriate, or too out of character, or too mean. And often, we wouldn't know which were which until we were in the editing room, looking for that balance.

In the case of today's deleted cut, the factors in play were relevance, the degree of cluelessness, and focus. While funny, it cast Harmony as too xenophobic, which wasn't a trait that felt true to her character. The cut also didn't move the narrative forward, so it had to go.
