AtD -- translated subtitles update (can you help?)

Great news: a dedicated group of fans continues to chug along on translated subtitles for the film!  Currently, there are Czech, German, Spanish, and Swedish versions in various stages of completion.  We're looking at a July 18 deadline for getting these done, so if you can help at all with one of those -- or feel inspired to try an add an additional language on your own -- PLEASE reply to this update or shoot me an email at [email protected] and I'll set you up with the appropriate website.

English captions are DONE -- Attacking the Darkness translation opportunity

Excited to announce that the English captions for Attacking the Darkness are DONE!  

As always, we are highly dependent on our incredible fans for providing translated captions for our films.  If you or anyone you know would be interested in translating the film into another tongue, please reply to this update or send an email to [email protected] and I'll hook you/them up with the appropriate link to get started.  The beauty of it all is that -- because I've already synchronized the English captions -- the time involved in doing translations is significantly reduced.

Checking in -- an update on AtD

You know when you write a long email and then accidentally delete it before sending?  Yeah, I so just did that with the first draft of this update...

So I was thinking this evening that -- with all of the things going on at present in the ZOE/DG universe (or as I sometimes call it, "The ZODGE Podge") -- it's highly likely that some of you have questions about the behind-the-scenes happenings of things.

So here's an attempt at filling in some blanks.

Currertly, Ben Dobyns (aka "ZOE-doer-of-all-the-things") is in Ireland on a Strowlers-related shoot.  Fear not, however: in his absence, I'm still keeping an eye on AtD and working to get the DVD ready in time for Gen Con.  Everything listed as "completed" in the previous update is still good-to-go: the biggest remaining piece is finishing the synchronization on the English captions for the video.  While they've already been written out, sync'ing them can take awhile (sometimes as much as 10 minutes or more invested into 1 minute of footage).  Finishing them soon is crucial, though, as they form the template for entering in captions in any other language.  At the present rate, I expect to be completed with them on July 9, and soon after they'll be released for additional translations.

Speaking of Gen Con, we've also had to take some time this week to pack up our materials to be shipped to Indianapolis.  If you're going this year, check out this link for a full list of our events -- and visit us as Booth #100 (right near Paizo).  It's going to be an awesome convention, and we're super excited to present TWO shows of Gamers Live this year!

You have probably heard about the Kickstarter for "The Gamers: The Shadow Menance" that is currently going on.  Our friends at Dead Gentlemen Productions are coordinating that project, and we completely support you checking it out -- the early script drafts have been fantastic (and help pull together the entire Gamers universe).

Just wanted to drop by with a quick message:

1) The Outtakes/Alt-takes section is complete.

2) Deleted Scenes (5 of them!) are complete

3) English captions are ~50% done (and once they're finished, we'll release the file for others to translate as there is interest).

4) Commentary tracks have been scheduled and will be recorded within the next couple months.

We're still aiming for a Gen Con DVD release -- keep your fingers crossed! (and feel free to chip in on the translated captions when the time comes)

Campaign Successful, Thanks to You

Wow, thank you everyone!

We can't wait to give this project a proper release this fall. Your pledges will help us create DVDs with a ton of special features, submit the movie to iTunes, Netflix, and other VOD platforms, and create some awesome supplements.

Unfortunately, the Blu-ray stretch goal didn't make it, but we'll of course master the film in HD.

It's ambitious and we might not make it, but we're going to push and see if we can have DVDs ready for Gen Con Indy this year. We'll know for sure around July 20th.

In the meantime, we'll be waiting to see what VOD platforms accept the film, we'll be sending out screeners to reviewers, and waiting for an official release date from iTunes (if we make it in).

Thanks again and we can't wait to get this release!

(Also, for those of you who have seen the film, who would want to see a Gamers special episode with Pastor Doug and Lucy leading an RPG session for the youth group?)
